Do you ever get so overly busy that you lose sight of what is of supreme importance? How easy it is for us to become so arrogant that we actually think we know what is best for us. The opposite of this arrogant, prideful attitude is humility, which is perfectly exemplified in Jesus.
When we begin to examine the implications of the cross, we discover just how overwhelming it is what Jesus did for us. And, when we realize how hard it is for anyone to fully grasp the magnitude of what Jesus did for us on the cross, it is then we will begin to understand humility.
So, what does humility look like? I would suggest that humility is what we discover in Matthew 20:26-28: Jesus declared, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Friends, true humility is evidenced when we don’t look out for our own interests but for the interests of others. When we choose to serve in lieu of seeking to be served, it is then we discover humility. So, what are some practical ways we might live in humility?
First, I would encourage us to get our eyes off of ourselves and especially as we look to the cross of Jesus.
Secondly, I would encourage us to think of ways we might serve someone this next week . . . ask someone, “How can I pray for you?” . . . “Could I help you with _____?”
Thirdly, too many marriages aren’t healthy because spouses are asking, what can I get out of this relationship. Instead, ask “How can I create an environment where my [wife/husband] can be all God intends for her/him to be?
Fourthly, as a church we might be looking for ways to serve people in our community. Let us think of ways we might not think about what we get out of a relationship or circumstance or even the church, and look for ways to serve.

Children’s Sunday School
Our dynamic Sunday school team is requesting volunteers to serve as Sunday school teachers. You would serve no more than once a month! Pray that God will raise up more teachers for this important ministry!

Mission Corner
This is the last week to donate items to Comfort Care . . . paper towels, toilet paper, cans of ginger ale, and bottled water for them to provide to their clients. Additionally, Baby Bottles may be brought back by the end of February.

Contagious Disease Preparedness Plan
The Session adopted a Contagious Disease Preparedness Plan to support our church family, as well as our visitors. We want to be supportive of our entire church family, as well as our community in this season of increased cases of COVID-19, including the new omicron variant. The plan has been sent to our members for reflection and feedback and is available at the church.
