What is the ultimate purpose of our salvation?  According to the Apostle Paul, it is “so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:7).  When God saves us, his purpose is about His glory, and thus extends through all eternity, which Paul calls “in the coming ages.”

Friends, if God has brought you from death to life through the death, resurrection, and ascension of His Son, He isn’t going to let you go!!  We will be recipients of His grace and kindness for all eternity!  And, it is all about God and His glory.  It is NOT about us!!

Martyn Lloyd-Jones pointed out in his commentary, God’s Way of Reconciliation, “Salvation vindicates the greatness and the character of God in a special way and in a manner in which nothing else does.”  Satan’s object in tempting Adam and Eve was to detract from the glory and majesty of God.  It is amazing, but if you are a follower of Jesus, you will play a part in displaying the immeasurable riches of God’s grace throughout eternity!  The Apostle Paul goes to great lengths to show us that because our salvation is all about God, there is eternal hope for all who are dead in their sins!!  People cannot raise themselves.  Only God is in the business of raising the dead!  My prayer is that we will not only become more aware of our sinfulness and unworthiness and cling to the Cross, but we will also be about the business of sharing with our neighbors, co-workers, and others that the only hope we have is in responding to Jesus’ call to follow Him.

So, the ultimate purpose of our salvation is to “show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”  It is all about God and His glory through all eternity!
