It All Belongs to God

We read in Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein . . .”  Everything that we think we own belongs to God.  Wait a minute . . . are you saying my car, my house, my computer, my clothes, my jewelry and my food belong to God?  YES!  You may think you earned it and you worked for it; however, you could not have done those things without the strength God provides.

There is nothing we have that God ultimately has not provided.  We are growing in our relationship with Christ when we realize that God gives to us, and He delights in us giving to others and giving back to Him.  Isn’t it amazing that we so often try to hold on to what we think is ours?

We read in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.”  Friends, when we do this, see if God will not bless us.  A tithe is nothing more than a penny out of a dime, or a dime out of a dollar.  If God sat with you at a table, and He gave you 10 dimes, what would cause you to say “no” if God asked for one of them back?  Yet 90% of all people who say they love God will say “No God, this is mine.”

Tithing is an essential part of spiritual development.  Tithing is as much a part of Christian gratitude and obedience as any commandment God ever gave.  We sometimes get upset about paying 10% when God is entitled to the full 100% to do as he pleases.  The moment God puts money into our hands, “we say this is mine. I’ll only give what I want to give.”  At that moment, up goes the fortress around “our” resources.  We have no idea of how blessed we are and of all the things that God has done for us.  Money is a funny thing.  No matter how much we have, we don’t think we have enough.  May God give us proper attitudes about how we manage the money and other resources He gives us!

NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE

Beginning THIS Sunday, February 26th, we will begin our new Sunday schedule!  Adult Sunday school will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.  Given that we only have three Sunday school rooms in our building, it will be helpful to have all of those available for family/children’s ministry during worship.  We are exploring an alternate location for the adult Sunday school class, which will meet at 9:30 a.m.

Our worship service will now be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.  While this move will be helpful for our ministry to families and children, it will also make it easier to have meetings and other events after worship.

AGAIN, this change begins THIS SUNDAY!
