Good Stewards

We read in Luke 16:8b, “For the people of this world are shrewder in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light (Christians).”  In this teaching Jesus sets his disciples apart from the dishonest manager.  The dishonest manager was a person of this world, seeking a way to make his life more comfortable.

As Christians we should act in a shrewd (wise – not dishonest) manner.  Jesus clearly taught that as Christians we should “use worldly wealth.”  Jesus also used the word wealth (manna) later in verse 13 when he affirmed that one cannot serve both God and money.

In verse 9 Jesus was saying that we should use wealth – not store it up or be a servant of it.  Wealth should be a disciples’ servant – not vice versa.  The disciples were to use wealth to gain friends – the same reason the dishonest manager used the land owners’ wealth.  The disciples’ wise use of wealth would help lead others to believe the message of the Kingdom and bring them to accept that message.

It is my prayer that we will be good stewards and use our resources to lead others to Christ!

Wills and Sarah have challenged us with a “call to prayer”!  Please pray that new families will join us for worship, teaching, and fellowship and that we as a church will have wisdom on how to reach them.
Volunteers are still needed as helpers and nursery workers.  If you are apprehensive about serving in this important ministry, consider just “shadowing” us as we lead Hope Navigators on Sundays.  You will learn that it is not hard to make a difference in the lives of our children!  YOU ARE NEEDED!!
