The gospel confronts every sinner with his/her sin. It confronts the religious sinner with his pride. It confronts the immoral sinner with his immorality. It confronts the greedy sinner with his love of money. It convicts every sinner of his/her guilt before the holy God. And, it offers to every sinner the free grace of God, who sacrificed His own Son as the righteous substitute for sinners. It shows that no sinner can save himself, but that God will save everyone who trusts in Jesus Christ alone.
If we are saved, it is because God chose to save us, and all the glory goes to Him. If we are lost, it is because of our stubborn pride and disobedience. My friends, that message is offensive because it confronts human pride and glorifies God alone. And, that is the only message we are to proclaim.
Weekday Religious Education (WRE) – We currently support this ministry in two local schools – Wilson Elementary School in Fishersville, Virginia (by tabbing their Bibles) and Stuarts Draft Elementary School (by purchasing half of the Bibles for their 5th grade students, along with Mountain Top Church in Love, Virginia). Please pray for the teachers and students involved in WRE, even during this summer break, that God will use this neat program to draw not only these students to the Lord but that parents and whole families may come to the knowledge of the Lord! http://virginiawre.blogspot.com/
AND MAKE DISCIPLES
THIS SUNDAY Pastor Glen will continue our new series based on 1 Timothy: “Guarding the Truth”. The message this Sunday is: “The Purpose of the Law,” based on 1 Timothy 1:8-11. Please read this text in preparation for worship and reflect on this question: “How can we share God’s Law practically, without sounding like we are condemning the person?
